First International Conference on Sports Management and Sports Law

Sports Management and Sports Law represent two important dimensions in the process of enhancing Sports systems within any country. The Conference aims to bring together leading researchers, practitioners and academic scientists, to exchange and share their experiences about all aspects of Sports Law and Management. The conference will also provide the interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent trends, opportunities and practical challenges encountered and the best practices in the area of sports law and management.

The conference will not only increase the awareness of sports in terms of rules, regulations, legislation and management but will also emphasize the role of educational institutions within the UAE in improving the legal, regulatory and management attributes associated with a wide range of sports.

This Conference will witness renowned speakers who will share their thoughts on the recent trends in Sports Law and Management.

The conference organized jointly by the College of Business Administration and College of Law at American University in the Emirates (AUE), offering Master program in Sports Management and Sports Law respectively offers unique opportunity to students, researchers, professionals and practitioners to network and builds relationships with industry professionals to enhance their understanding of both theoretical and operational knowledge of legal concepts and skills essential to the sports business.

The Master of Sports Management (MSM) program at AUE is a unique post-graduate program designed for students, business people, sports professionals, and others interested in moving ahead in their careers, or moving into new professions, starting and managing their own Sports Clubs or as administrators and managers in athletic and sport clubs. This program enables graduates to assume leadership and management roles within their organizations, foster innovation, and collaborate effectively. The MSM program is flexible enough to accommodate both full-time and part-time students and can be completed within 12 months of full-time study or three years of part-time study.

The Master Program in Sports Law offered in Arabic language addresses basic legal principles affecting the management of sports including but not limited to liability, negligence and risk assessment, contractual relations, issues of ownership and license, and rights of publicity, image, and copyright.

Both the programs seeks to maximize student contact with the industry professional to prepare students to work in the sport industry through rigorous academic preparation.

Mission

Sports Management and Sports Law represent two important dimensions in the process of enhancing Sports systems within the United Arab Emirates. From the Sports Law perspective, it is essential to improve understanding as to the legal relationships between the professional regulations developed and implemented within the national framework and international standards. In turn, from the Sports Management perspective, it is necessary to build national leadership competencies within core areas such as Sports governance, management, marketing, law and ethics, in a manner which links theoretical concepts with practical, hands-on experience, so as to strengthen national Sports systems.
